What is Activate?
Activate volunteers run fun evening activities with young people at the Avon Youth Club in Lawrence Weston. The activities are planned by the volunteers; it all depends upon what you and other activate volunteers would like to do. In the past activities have included cooking, sports and music.
Bristol Hub will support you with activity development, and you will gain some great experience working young people. Whether you have an interest in teaching, social work, youth work or just want to do some volunteering, Activate could be the one for you! It's also a fantastic opportunity for you to get out in the community and get to know Bristol better.
Why do we do it?
Lawrence Weston is one of several districts in Bristol that has been calculated as being within the worst 10% of areas in England for Multiple Deprivation. The Avon Youth Club provides an invaluable service supporting young people in the area by giving them a fun and constructive space.
By sending volunteers we help the Club maintain an engaging and enjoyable atmosphere, and offer the young people the opportunity to take part in different activities, widening their experiences and helping them to gain new skills too.
