Join the Linkages committee!
We are looking a new committee members to join our Linkages team.
LinkAges is an intergenerational project that aims to connect students with older people in the community, to tackle social isolation and loneliness that they often experience.
What will you do?
There are a few committee roles to choose from when you apply depending on your skills and interests. Role descriptions are below:
All committee:
  • Attend weekly committee meetings.
  • Support staff to run volunteer selection workshops and inductions with community partners.
  • Represent and promote LinkAges volunteering opportunities across the university.
  • Organise volunteer socials.
LinkAges Project Coordinator:
  • Organise, schedule and chair weekly committee meetings.
  • Delegate tasks and support other committee members to successfully fulfil their role.
  • Ensure the project runs smoothly and that volunteers, Hub staff, and community partners are kept updated.
  • Work alongside staff on LinkAges project development and relationship building with community partners.
Volunteer Coordinator:
  • Work alongside the social media coordinator to recruit volunteers through freshers/events/social media.
  • Support staff to run volunteer selection workshops and volunteer inductions.
  • Ensure all volunteers have completed necessary DBS checks and safeguarding training.
    Help to record volunteer impact data (volunteer numbers, feedback forms etc.).
Fundraising and Events Coordinator:
  • Lead on organising one-off volunteering opportunities for students (e.g. visits to care homes; making Christmas cards for residents)
  • Plan and run two fundraising events throughout the year with the support of other committee members (target of £100)
Social Media Coordinator:
  • Collect photos and quotes from volunteers and beneficiaries.
  • Be aware of photo consent from residents in care homes and retirement villages.
  • Create social media and newsletter content to promote LinkAges and engage volunteers and community partners (working alongside the exec committee comms coordinator).
  • Work alongside the Fundraising and Events Coordinator to promote events.
How will you be supported?
  • Linkages is managed by a member of the Bristol Hub staff team. You will work with them, and they will support you to flourish as a Linkages committee member and in your personal development.
